My Flight Experience

Edward Experience

Going through security was annoying, like we know it’s for safety and everything but I’m pretty sure it takes at least 5 minutes to walk there, get in line, put everything onto those grey/white bins and wait for it to come through the scanner and literally waiting for the luggage to come through the carousel, uhhhh,  We were not even close to getting to New York.

As you may have expected, we went through what you usually have to: waiting at the boarding gate for 1-2 hours doing pretty much nothing at all. We waited at boarding gate A-9, probably the same one we waited at for our trip to Barcelona. After about an hour or so, they made the boarding call.

With roaring sounds and noisy conversations, an American Airlines plane soared through the skies. Considering that the flight was exactly 59 minutes, there were no “mini TV’s” but they still kept you distracted and entertained. If you were on the same flight as me, you would know that the pilot kept us updated on the weather, time and temperature.

We were very lucky, probably blessed to not have experienced any turbulence at all, that means the flight was not shaky or bumpy at any time. So, if you were tired at that time, it would be the perfect time to doze off.

“Hello once again, and we want to be the first to welcome you to New York, we will be landing at LaGuardia soon, have a great day and have a wonderful stay in New York,” the pilot announced. 15 minutes later, we landed safely and made our way out of LaGuardia and rode to our hotel.

Katie’s Experience

My hands were shaking, and beads of sweat rolled down my neck. My heart beated extremely fast, and I knew something bad was going to happen within the next hour and a half. We were about to board the airplane to LaGuardia Airport in New York City, and that was an exaggeration of what it actually was like. I wasn’t that nervous of riding an airplane, but on most plane rides I get airsick.

I travelled to New York with my mom and Sunni. We went through security check pretty quickly, and we made it to our boarding gate and waited there for a little less than a hour, when finally they called our zone to board the plane. As soon as I got on the plane, I remembered that I forgot to take my air sickness pill! I quickly swallowed the pill with difficulty with a tiny little bit of leftover water from my water bottle. I was now more nervous because the pill takes about half an hour to settle in and for it to help me fall asleep. I was worried that the plane ride would be over before the pill would actually work.

Unfortunately, my mom had forgotten to check-in our seats so our seats were all spread out, but luckily the seat next to me was Angie and Dea’s dad’s seat. Sunni switched seats with him and then we weren’t so bored on the plane. Takeoff went smoothly, but then the captain of the plane announced that the weather wasn’t that great and we were going to have some turbulence. For the first little part of the flight, it was so bumpy that it was scary, and the drops made my stomach feel nauseous! The rest of the flight was smooth, and just as we started descending, I, not the pill, forced myself to sleep and I woke up just as we hit the ground! I happily got out of the plane and we took a taxi to our hotel. Ironically, after the plane ride I began to feel sleepy, and I was in a tired mood for the rest of the day.
