Surely there will be a day when you want to visit a farm. If so, allow me to suggest “Cooper’s CSA Farm & Maze.” It is located in Zephyr, Ontario. You should go around the month of October.
We went there mainly to explore the corn maze, but the fun didn’t just end there. There was a corn box, three slides, three tractors, two hay wagons, a hay climb, and five horse swings.
There were three mazes: Kids Maze, Phase 1, and Phase 2. Kids Maze was an average 10 minutes, Phase 1 was a confusing 20 minutes, and Phase 2 was a whopping 40 minutes. It’s not as easy as it sounds. You might be thinking: “It’s so easy! Just look above the corn and figure it out within 5 minutes.” That is possible if you have a helicopter. Even if you are very tall, it’s still a field of yellow ─ no visible paths.
Of course, there was a “corn cop” to help you if you got lost. If you went the right way in every fork you meet, you would see a multiple choice question. The right answer would lead you to the next question. The wrong one would have you become flat out lost, unless you retrace your steps. They had a different theme every year. This year’s maze was based on the movie Ghostbusters.
The corn maze was actually made with real corn that looked very tasty and ripe. We saw several marks on the ground made by others, such as two gloves on a fork pointing in different directions. We took at least 30 minutes to finish the maze and that was with the help of our Dad’s iPhone. We even cheated by looking up some of the multiple choice questions!
Before you go into the maze, make sure you have tons of water and some food. You’ll need your energy. Also, enter the maze early, because you’ll need some time before it gets dark. Do a little group recount often, so no questions like: “Where’s your sister?” pop up.
There was a mini-maze called, the “No Left-Turn Maze.” You hear this and say, “My! That sounds easy! Just go straight or turn right!” Still sounds easy after you can’t do U-Turns? This maze is impossible. We tried.
The best slide ever is an old tractor called the “Combine Slide.” It was a bumpy tube leading from the top to the bottom. It’s better than it sounds.
The hay climb was climbing up and down stacks of hay. You could be stuck in holes as well with a wrong step. The horse swings were like swinging horses made from car tires. You sat the way you sit on a horse. Instead of having ropes beside you, they were in front of or behind you. When people got going fast enough, most people started hanging upside-down.
Cooper’s CSA Farm & Maze is a great place for family and friends. There is no reason why you shouldn’t go! The staffs are friendly, and it’s a fun and awesome place. We had a great time there. Next time you have a birthday party, try going there!
